CEU Workshop: Literacy Strategies for Language-Based and Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities
Join us on Wednesday, September 15 from 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. for a Continuing Education In-Service entitled, “Literacy Strategies for Language Based and Non-Verbal Learning Disorders”. The speaker is Peggy Radcliff, who has over 25 years of experience in Special Education as a Reading Specialist. This workshop will discuss strategies and techniques that have been helpful to students with both language-based and non-verbal learning disabilities.
Participating clinicians will be able to:
• Define characteristics of both language-based and non-verbal learning disabilities.
• Recognize the effects of both disabilities on social and academic development.
• Learn imaging techniques to support students’ recall of vocabulary and concepts.
• Learn strategies to support students’ development of higher-level cognitive skills related to comprehension of text.
This program is approved by ASHA for 0.2 CEUs (Intermediate level: Professional area). There will be a $49 per person course fee for this program, which includes a supper. American Sign Language Fall Classes starting September 20th, 2010
Learn American Sign Language (ASL) in a small group setting. Our classes have a maximum of 12 students to allow for personal attention. This is a full immersion class — the entire class will be taught by a Deaf instructor using American Sign Language.
